Fuel Card: How It Works for Carriers

The C.H. Robinson fuel card helps carriers manage fuel and maintenance expenses by combining flexible funding options with access to nationwide discounts. This article explains how the card works, from initial setup through everyday use.

Apply for the Fuel Card

To get started, carriers must complete a short application.

  • Application fees vary based on the funding option selected.
  • Once approved, the fuel card is mailed to you.
  • The card must be activated through the EFS portal, where spending limits can be set.

Select a Funding Method

Carriers can fund their fuel card using one of the following options:

  • Payment-funded: Apply C.H. Robinson load payments or cash advances directly to the card.
  • Self-funded: Transfer money from your bank account to maintain a balance.
  • Credit option: Use an EFS credit line for additional flexibility.

Use the Card and Receive Discounts

The fuel card can be used at participating fuel locations nationwide.

  • Eligible discounts are applied automatically at checkout.
  • No coupons or manual steps are required.
  • Transactions and savings can be viewed in Navisphere® Carrier and EFS tools.

Access Tire and Repair Savings

Additional savings may be available at select service locations.

  • Present your DOT or MC number at TA or Petro service desks.
  • Qualifying carriers can receive tire and repair discounts.
