C.H. Robinson has crossed a major technology milestone: more than 30 AI agents are now deployed at scale across its global network, transforming how freight moves and how supply chains perform.

This achievement builds on the company’s early leadership in generative AI. In 2023, C.H. Robinson was among the first in logistics to embed large language models into real-world workflows. What began as a breakthrough in automating shipping tasks that defied automation for decades has now evolved into a scaled digital workforce benefiting shippers, carriers, and employees alike.

Meet the AI agents working for our customers

C.H. Robinson's fleet of AI agents span the full shipment lifecycle: from quoting prices and processing orders to freight classification, appointments, and in-transit tracking. By automating more than 3 million shipping tasks to date, they help shippers achieve faster speed-to-market and get more competitive rates.

With routine tasks being performed by AI, employees are also freed up for more strategic supply-chain work. Collectively, these agents have contributed to a 30% increase in productivity since 2023.

Among the AI Agents now powering global supply chains are:

  • Quoting Agent: At over 1 million quotes and counting, this agent delivers customer-specific price quotes in just 32 seconds. With MIT research showing that even modest delays can cost shippers 23-25% extra, this agent’s rapid response gives customers a competitive edge in the spot market.
  • Orders Agent: Reads and interprets emailed tenders, including attachments, and builds orders in about 90 seconds, processing 5,500 truckload orders per day and saving 600 hours of labor daily. Faster order processing leads to better appointment times and carrier matches.
  • LTL Classifier Agent: Automatically determines the correct freight class and code for less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments, positioning customers to navigate the new national classification system with confidence and eliminating the delays and re-invoicing that come with misclassified freight. By handling 2,000 shipments per day, over 75% of LTL orders are automated—up from 50% before the agent launched
  • Appointments Agent: Sets over 3,000 appointments daily across 43,000 locations in less than a minute, allowing us to offer our customers’ freight to our carrier network faster.
  • Truck Posting Agent: Parses carrier emails and posts available trucks to the company’s real-time capacity center, speeding up load matching so customer freight gets on the road faster.
  • Shipment Tracking Agent: Responds to customer tracking requests by instantly retrieving and sending SKU-level shipment details, giving customers earlier visibility.

A digital workforce built to scale

From its early advances in freight matching to today’s expanding AI fleet, C.H. Robinson has steadily transformed how global shipments move. Central to that progress is the company’s data advantage: billions of data points on 37 million shipments a year and proprietary large language models fine-tuned for freight transactions.

Building on this foundation, the logistics leader continues to refine and build new AI agents to assist other AI agents, enhance predictive capabilities and tackle emerging challenges. Together, these advancements extend the company’s ability to anticipate market shifts, reduce friction, and create new value across global supply chains.

In an era of volatile trade and shifting tariffs, C.H. Robinson is not only redefining what supply chains mean today but also shaping the next generation of intelligent logistics for the industry at large.
